Hatchet 3 (2013) movie analysis (Decker Shado)

Wiki Article

Hatchet 3 was the film that was a horror in the Hatchet trilogy. It follows Victor Crowley's murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. The film features Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn as Deputy Winslow and Rileah Vanderbilt in the role of Misty.

The movie's special effects are the film's biggest strengths. In contrast to many contemporary horror films which rely heavily on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly practical makeup effect and sets--resulting in some truly terrifying scenes throughout the movie.

The cast delivers a solid performance and Kane Hodder standing out as the most intimidating villain. The dialogue is hilarious and clever enough to make it seem like an 80s slasher film. Additionally, there are several hilarious moments throughout that offer some humor in the midst of the terrifying action.

Due to the budget being $1 million, most places were reused from earlier films. The boat house that was used twice in the film was one example. A lot of the film feels like it was recycled from other movies within the series. For those who have watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this can sometimes make the film appear familiar.

In the end, Hatchet 3 was very enjoyable. I found it to be very similar to other entries in this (blog) series. However, Hatchet 3 provided lots of thrilling thrills and hilarious performances from its actors.
